What to expect from Thielen Coaches when traveling to Kansas Speedway!
Kansas Speedway: Kansas Speedway is one of my favorite race tracks to go to. This 1.5 mile track is not too big where you can’t see the whole track and it’s not too small where everyone gets mixed up in the long green flags. If this is your first time going to a NASCAR race, I highly recommend Kansas Speedway for many reasons. The seats are great so you have an excellent view, just the right amount of people (80,000 at KC compared to 250,000 at Daytona), Great bus parking close to the gate, not a far drive & many more reasons.
Hotel: When you are not at the track we will be at our hotel which is a Hampton Inn. This hotel has excellent beds to sleep in along with a free hot breakfast each morning. Around the hotel are many different options to wander off to. There are many food options from fast food to sit down steak house or Bar/Grills. There is also a Super Target, TJ Max & Home Depot right across the street. We are definitely in great area to stay.
Motor Coach: the motor coach that you would ride on is one of the newest motor coaches on the road which is a MCI J4500 coach that will have a restroom, a six LCD flat screen entertainment system, window shades, foot rests, arm rests, reclining seats, individual air, cup holders & more. You would also have access to free Wi-Fi (wireless internet) on the coach with 110 volt plug ins so you can keep anything powered up.
Tailgating: We set up a tent & tailgate on both days (Saturday & Sunday) at the track. We have free pop & water to drink along with chips, hot dogs & pulled pork sandwiches for you to enjoy instead spending money on a $8 slice of pizza. We are at the bus up until the flag drops so if you don’t want to walk around then come sit & relax on the coach for a while. Everyone in the past have really enjoyed our tailgating!
Rough Itinerary: We start loading in various Minnesota (locations TBD) on Friday morning & make our way toward Kansas City. We will stop in Sioux Falls, SD to eat lunch at the Empire Mall & also pick up some more passengers. We will journey our way down I-29 with a rest stop by Omaha, NE for a short break. Our next stop would be checking into our hotel in Kansas City about 7:00 pm. You can then get Checked in then have free time to relax or go out to one of the area establishments.
Saturday & Sunday morning will be pretty close to the same schedule. We will be departing the coach from the hotel about 8:00 am. It is a 30 minute drive from the hotel to Kansas Speedway where we will get a motor coach parking spot. From there we will give you your tickets for the day & you are on your own to check out the track, shop or enjoy the many different types of entertainment they have going on or have some fun at the motor coach. This is the day to get your shopping done for the fact that there is a lot less people to work around on Saturday than there will be on Sunday. The NASCAR truck race begins at 1:00 pm. We usually depart the track one hour after the checkered flag is waived.
On Sunday we run the same schedule with the Sprint Cup race beginning at 12:00 noon. Monday morning, after two long fun days in the sun we will load the motor coach & journey our way home getting to Sioux Falls around 2:00 pm & back to the various Minnesota spots between 4-7 pm.
What if the race is postponed due to rain?
If the Saturday truck race is postponed they will run both races on Sunday. If the Sunday Sprint Cup race is postponed they will run it on Monday therefore we will attend the race on Monday then head toward home after the race
